Clean Water Project

Clean Water Project

The Clean Water Project is a fun awareness-raising activity for schools and youth associations. We start with a quiz, fish waste and then sort the floating waste on the quay. While canoeing you will have the opportunity to clean up Ghent's water, to reflect on your own behavior and to get to know each other in a different way.

What exactly does it mean?

The workshop is based on experiential learning: "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand." (Xunzi, third century A.C.). Armed with grabs, gloves and waste bins, you are going to do it!

A workshop looks like this:

We start with a short quiz about dirty fishing, recycling and rising sea levels. You will receive two assignments from us:

○ Catch the catch of the day, the most original piece of waste.

○ Collect as much waste as possible and sort correctly. After the canoe trip, the catch is weighed.

You will also receive three challenges:

○ Think together about pollution and unnecessary waste.

○ Take an action around plastic waste in your area.

○ Share your inspiration on DOKano's Facebook page.
