Having fun while doing something good

Do you want to do something special with your team? Something that makes you feel good and is fun at the same time? 

You and your company or team can go to vzw DOKano for fishing waste. Armed with grabs, gloves and waste bins, you hit the road! Collect as much waste as possible and help to clean the water. After the canoe trip, the waste is weighed on the quay.

When

You can visit us every Tuesday between 1 April and 1 November. Other days are possible on request. You choose either the morning session from 9.30am to 12pm or the afternoon session from 1.30pm to 4pm. It is possible to have a picnic or have lunch nearby.

Morning session:

9.30 am - 10 am intro: explanation about fishing dirt, recycling, safe sailing and the sailing map

10h-11h30 boating and fishing dirt: fish as much waste as possible from the water and try to fish the 'catch of the day', the most original piece of waste

11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Back ashore: after the canoe trip the catch is sorted and weighed. We brainstorm together about how we can prevent unnecessary plastic and are happy to share your inspiration on our Facebook page.

Afternoon session:

3.30 pm - 4 pm Back ashore: after the canoe trip, the catch is sorted and weighed. We brainstorm together about how we could prevent unnecessary plastic and are happy to share your inspiration on our Facebook page.

Number of participants

We receive a group of maximum 25 people per session. We provide life jackets and all other necessities for sailing. We have 10 canoes of 3 persons and 10 canoes of 2 persons. Participants are insured anyway.

Requirements

- The participants can swim.

- At least 10 participants are required per session for the session to take place.

Contribution

20€ per person

With this contribution we can further support our Clean Water Project, whereby we focus on awareness and dirty fishing among school-aged young people.

Tip! You can be guided during the workshop by Ghent Active Guides. They will take you in tow and have developed a tour about ecology especially for us. Ask for it!

Where

The DOKano departure point is Schipperskaai 49, 9000 Ghent, a ten-minute walk from Gent Dampoort station. From the Nieuwe Dokken there are various sailing routes to enter the city.

How to book

Send an e-mail to info@dokano.be with the number of people and the desired sailing day. Also let us know whether you opt for the morning or afternoon session. We will let you know as soon as possible if the dates are free. The booking is final after depositing the amount. If the session cannot continue due to bad weather, for example, we will refund everything.
